Tar Heels Set Novice Tryouts

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina rowing program has announced open tryouts for the 2008-09 season. The process will begin with an interest meeting on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Murphey Hall, Room 116. Additional information on the schedule for tryouts will be available at that time. All undergraduate female students are invited to try out, with no prior rowing experience necessary. Please use the form provided on the rowing page at TarHeelBlue.com. Rowing is heading into its 12th year as a varsity program at UNC. The team consists of a varsity squad, made up of experienced rowers, and a novice squad, which consists mostly of athletes who had no rowing experience when they came to North Carolina. The Tar Heels race in the fall and the spring, with the latter being the NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference season. For a look at the novice program in photos, click here.
