Six Tar Heels Named To All-ACC Academic Team

by ACC Media Relations GREENSBORO, N.C. - Six University of North Carolina student-athletes earned spots on the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Carolina players earning spots on the team included freshman Corey Donohoe, senior Meg Freshwater, senior Erica LaGrow, junior Chelsea Parks, junior Kelly Taylor and sophomore Kristen Taylor. LaGrow is a member of the team for the third consecutive year, while Kristen Taylor earns the honors for the second year in a row. Twelve players who earned All-Conference honors this past season secured spots on the 2008 All-ACC Academic Women's Lacrosse team. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Duke's Carolyn Davis was named the 2008 Women's Lacrosse ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Thirteen (13) student-athletes were repeat honorees from the 2007 All-ACC Academic team, while Boston College`s Emily Hannigan, Maryland's Kathryn Princiotto and LaGrow have been tabbed All-ACC Academic team members for the third-straight year. Duke placed nine student-athletes on the team for the third consecutive year. Maryland and Carolina followed with six honorees apiece, while Virginia and Virginia Tech each had four. Rounding out the 32-member team with three selections was Boston College.
